Alpacas in Oregon?

This past weekend, we took our son to college in Southern Oregon. While we were delaying our departure, we decided to tour some of the little towns in the area as well the wineries. We came upon a winery called Caprice Vineyards. It's just outside of Jacksonville, OR. This little winery makes a fine cabernet, particularly their 2008 and 2009. But the story continues as they are also alpaca ranchers. What a photo op this was. These are photos of the females and they are as different as people. I hope you enjoy these funny critters. Thanks to Jim and his wife at Caprice for letting us roam around their property and get to know their "family". If you are ever in the area, do stop by and visit, have a glass of wine and say howdy to the gang.

This lady would be Penny. Hear to tell she's not the most friendly of the bunch. Come to find out she's a great Mom but a dominant tyrant in the herd.  Actually quite nice when she's not pregnant so say the owners. She was not pregnant and was fine with us.

We have named this lady the Rasta-Paca. Pretty good photo from an iPhone. Credit goes to my wife for this shot.
